In short
Didi Dighomi, often spelt Didi Digomi, is a residential district in the north of Tbilisi with many large new-build projects. It has no metro station of its own: you reach the centre by bus or car, and a tram to Didube metro station is planned. The area suits owner-occupiers and long-term letting rather than buyers who want to live centrally.
What defines Didi DighomiIf you want the metro, universities and more city life on your doorstep, look at Saburtalo.
Flat in Tbilisi-SaburtaloWhat defines Didi Dighomi
A district planned in large blocks. It offers new buildings and space, but getting into town takes longer.
Didi Dighomi lies in the north of Tbilisi, further from the centre than Saburtalo. Large residential complexes set the tone, with new projects still going up between them.
Tbilisi Transport Company buses link the district with metro stations and the centre. Check the route and journey time from the specific building, and drive the route at rush hour.
There is no metro station in the district. In 2026 Tbilisi Transport Company tendered the design and construction of a tram from Didi Dighomi to Didube metro station. According to press reports of the signing at City Hall, the contract was concluded on 7 September 2026: about 7.5 kilometres, 11 stops and 36 months for design and construction. Whether that timetable holds will only show as work progresses.
How much green space lies within walking distance varies from building to building. Check how far the nearest park is from the building and whether the land in between is meant to stay open.
Before you settle on a building, ask about the nearest school and nursery and whether they have places. Check, too, whether a supermarket and a pharmacy are within walking distance.
Many projects are still under construction, and the tram is coming. Expect noise and site traffic in the neighbourhood for some years.
