What owners doClimate figures
The figures come from Adjara's 2013 climate change strategy, based on long-term measurements. For official measurements today, the body to ask is the National Environmental Agency.

On the coast it rains on 150 to 170 days a year. That is close to every other day.
Relative humidity is high throughout Adjara, usually between 70 and 90%. Humid air and mild temperatures mean walls and fabrics dry slowly.
In the 1961 to 1990 reference period, autumn was the wettest season on the coast and spring the driest. With a long-term annual mean of 14.5 °C, Batumi is the warmest place in Adjara.
Official weather and climate data in Georgia come from the National Environmental Agency, which is where to ask for monthly figures for Batumi. Internationally comparable climate normals for 1991 to 2020 are collected by the World Meteorological Organization. Figures on travel sites often give no measurement period.
For owners
In Batumi, damp is not a defect of the building but part of daily life. Plan for it and you avoid much of the damage.
Open the windows wide for a few minutes when it is dry outside, and keep them shut in the rain. Many owners use the dry mode on the air conditioning or a dehumidifier, plus an extractor fan in the bathroom.
A locked flat does not air itself. Arrange for someone to air it regularly, check windows and walls, and empty or check a dehumidifier fitted with a drain hose. Leave wardrobe doors slightly open.
Wind drives rain against the seaward side and carries salt with it. At handover, check window seals, the joints around the balcony and the balcony drain. Metal in railings and frames should be suitable for coastal air.
When finishing a white-frame flat, choose damp-resistant materials in the bathroom, plan ventilation outlets and leave space for a dehumidifier with a drain. Wooden floors and wallpaper need more care in a flat that is rarely used.
Washing dries slowly in humid air. A tumble dryer or a sheltered spot on the balcony helps. In a holiday flat, bedding and cushions are best stored in closed boxes.
The city runs on the beach season. More than five times as many passengers arrived at the airport in August 2025 as in February. In winter many holiday flats stand empty, beach bars close and the city is quiet. If you plan to live there all year, spend a winter there first.
